Makeup Disagreements between friends …

Sara and I spend an alarming amount of time together, have similar skin types and our shades vary only in levels of pinkness. That being said we usually agree on our products, so when there is a disagreement it is often explosive and sometimes violent. Here are three examples of face products that we didn’t agree on….to the point that we are arguing about it as I write this while we drink wine and watch Pulp Fiction.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer: Sara loves this product while I would rather go to bed in a full face of makeup before a wedding. While Sara experiences great coverage and lasting power with brightness I experience flashes of rage. Sara has already done a post on her experiences with this product, check out the link!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation: I love this product. Love Love Love. It gives me amazing coverage and lasts all day. Sara experienced none of this, she hated this product. She actually returned the foundation (a gift from me for her birthday, managing to hijack my Sephora points). She did however love the powder from same line.

Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation: Ughh I scowled even writing the name of this mediocre product. I hate this foundation, there was no coverage and it separated. Sara, she loves this foundation because for her it has great coverage, SPF 20, looks natural, has a pump and lasts her all day.

Here’s to hoping our friendship survives our frequent makeup arguments!

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipsticks!

So there I was in Sephora, as seems to be a Saturday afternoon ritual, when I saw them…… the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipsticks. Have you seen this packaging!?!?!?! And the price? $19? Sara and I literally flagged down someone who worked there and asked them why they were so cheap (She didn’t know, in fact she didn’t know they were even there because they had just arrived that morning). Products from prestige lines with anything besides a sharpener with prices starting with a 1 is basically unheard of. Obviously I bought two. I will likely end up with the whole line. I swatched these in store and I was pleasantly surprised with their smoothness and colour. There are very few products I think are pretty universal for everyone **cough Bioderma cough** but these are great and are fitting for anyone for the price tag and did I mention the beautiful packaging? Do yourself a favor and grab one or all of these, talk about a purse proud product.

Slight after note…. The packaging seems to be like a hard cardboard. Definitely not plastic so I’d be careful with getting them wet. I could be wrong but I’d hate for your pretty floral container to have a run in with your makeup remover.
Also do yourself a favor…. When you’re visiting the lipsticks check out the liners. Tarte why are you attacking my bank account you wonderful wretch?

Sara’s Four Favorite Foundations!

Foundations are something that are very personal. There are so many “specs” on a foundation, and when you find one that works very well for you, it’s a huge deal. Sabah did a post like this awhile back, and I wanted to see what my most reached for foundations were, and then post them for you guys to see. Now, I love BB creams, and tinted moisturizers, but these are just going to be foundations.
Of course there are other foundations out there that I love, but this one will depict the ones I reach for the most lately.

L’Oreal True Match Lumi: I wear the shade C3, and this is a great color for me when I have some self tan happening. This foundation is very fluid, and it gives such a glowy appearance to the skin. I like to apply this with a Beauty Blender, or my fingers if I am in a hurry. I have also mixed a little bit of this with my moisturizer for a lighter look. One of my favorite drug store foundations for a dewy look.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Full Coverage Foundation: This was a gift from Sabah for my last birthday, and I absolutely love it. It gives a decent coverage for a powder, I wouldn’t say full coverage, but when I am having a good skin day, this stuff with concealer does the trick. It never looks chalky or cakey, and it doesn’t make my skin feel super tight and dry like some powders can. (Talc is the devil on my skin!) I am in the shade Light Medium Beige!

Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous: I wear the shade 925 in this, and every time I wear it I get complimented on my skin. It is a high coverage foundation, and it does not break down throughout the day. It also doesn’t cling to my dry patches. I agree with the claim of not needing a primer (but if you had an oily skin type you still might want to apply one!) but I do still use a concealer when I use this stuff. It has SPF 20 which I like, and I will repurchase this for sure.

Clarins Everlasting Foundation: This product is a must have. Sabah and I were talking about it the other day, even though we try other foundations, and sometimes we neglect our favorites, in order to try the new stuff, Everlasting is like coming home. It has a beautiful scent, which is strange for me to say because I am not a fan of overly scented fragrance. It has amazing coverage, and it lasts all day. It doesn’t accentuate dry patches, and I know that it works well on the driest and the oiliest of skins. It is a luxury foundation, and it is a must try for everyone.

What are your favorite foundations? I can’t wait to try some new ones out.
