Lise Watier

Review: Lise Watier Baiser Velours!

Some days I want to pull out all the stops with my lips. Liners, lipsticks, lip glosses, highlighting etc. But some days, I just want a one stop product that I can apply in the morning, and truly forget about. I’m also fond of wearing a super natural look, and adding a pop of color to the lips. The new Lise Watier Baiser Velours are the answer to my prayers.

2015/01/img_5547.jpg

Swatches from top to bottom: Eternal Kiss, Passion Kiss, Party Kiss, Love Kiss, French Kiss, Nude Kiss, Sweet Kiss, Sun Kiss and Fashion Kiss.

Available in 9 shades, these lip lacquers provide a matte finish, with a super light texture. The applicator is a tapered doe foot, which makes precise application a breeze. Once applied, these lip products provide a full coverage matte finish, and will not transfer. I also didn’t notice any smell to them.

Can we just take a minute and look at these shades? They are so beautiful!

The wear time on these shades is impressive! If you are looking for a long wear lip product that is low maintenance, you should definitely look into these when they launch. After playing around with them, I realized that I love to mix these! I would recommend that you do this on a separate palette, so you don’t end up mixing the shades in the tubes themselves, but they can definitely be mixed together. Nude Kiss and Sweet Kiss make a great shade!

These retail for $27.00 CAD, and you get 6ml of product.

I am super happy to have this addition to the Lise Watier line. They really do lip products well, and the new Baiser Velours are no exception!

What are your favorite Lise Watier products? I recently sent some products to one of my favorite You Tube gurus crystalis007, and I can’t wait to see her thoughts on some of the products. (Lise Watier isn’t readily available where she lives in the States, so I wanted her to have some pieces of Canadian Makeup!)

2014 Favorites! Makeup Edition!

Well, it’s here. The last day of 2014. As with pretty much every year, there have been some big highs, and some big lows. Alas, here we are, we got through it. Keeping on the high note, I am here to let you know some of the best makeup products that I used this year. It was hard to narrow it down this much, but only the best came through!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/90b/62657476/files/2014/12/img_5097.jpg

Lancôme Waif Eyeshadow: This shadow is amazing. Super basic, and super useful. I use this alone to conceal veins and redness on mornings that I need to be super quick. It also makes the perfect transition color, or exaggerated crease color. It has a matte finish, and I have completely finished one already. Lancôme just sent me another one along with a few other products, so I am happy to have one back in my collection!

Clarins True Radiance Foundation: This was a newer favorite for this year. This foundation gives great coverage, and a wonderful finish. It makes my dry skin glow, and really seems to neutralize redness. I use the shade 109, and couldn’t be happier with it.

Lise Watier Rouge Fondant Supreme Lipsticks: These lipsticks are so hydrating and creamy. I love that the shade names are all names of Iconic women. (I would love them to make one named after me … Hint Hint Lise Watier, I like fuchsia and pinky nude colors) They wear beautifully, and never leave me with that dreaded ring around my mouth.

Elizabeth Arden Brow Pencil: This brow pencil blew my mind. I finished the whole thing, and continue to use the spooly on the end of this product with other brow products. It blends the product perfectly, but doesn’t remove too much of it. It is by far my favorite brow product I have used this year, and if you use the Anastasia Brow Wiz, you should give this pencil a try. It’s a little cheaper, and I much prefer it.

Lancôme Hypnose Mascara: This has been a favorite of mine for years. This mascara gives me volume, length, with no clumps, and it doesn’t flake on me. I also fell in love with Lancôme Grandiose this year, but after much debate, I’ve decided to stick with the original Hypnose as my must have.

Maybelline Color Elixirs: These lip elixirs give you the most beautiful looking lips. And they make your lips feel like pillows. My favorite color from the line is Caramel Infused. These are not sticky, and they don’t gather near the edges of your lips. (Something my boss likes to call grossness) They wear so nicely, and everytime I wear these, people ask me what I am wearing.

Essence Silky Touch Blushes: I am just as shocked as you that these blushes made favorite status. I have purchased so many blushes in 2014, and I continue to reach for my Essence. These are so inexpensive, but the pigment is amazing, and they last all day on my skin. My favorite one right now is shade 40, which is now discontinued, so the anxiety about hitting pan on that is starting to creep up. These blushes made me put my hourglass blush palette away. And my Dior Glow. That is a serious accomplishment …

Benefit Porefessional: I used so much of this product this year. This product is awesome at blurring out fine lines and pores. Near the end of 2014, Smashbox launched a pore minimizing primer that I love as well, but I have to give the favorite status to Benefit. I introduced this to my mother this year, and she is now obsessed with it too. My favorite way to use this product is on days that I don’t want to wear any other face makeup. It evens out my skin texture and I swear it calms down my redness too.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/90b/62657476/files/2014/12/img_5109.jpg

Dior Creme De Rose Lip Balm: First things first. Is this getting discontinued or not!? I think this is one of the worst products that “cries wolf.” It seems like people are always losing their mind that this is discontinued, but I continue to find it. And stores tell me it’s still a core product and not phased out. Either way – this lip balm is amazing. I love the scent of it, and no other lip balm has ever made my lips this soft. I wish they could make it in a stick form, as I hate sticking my finger into a lip balm jar, but this loves on my nightstand, and I’ll continue to repurchase!

Lise Watier Aurora Highlighting Powder: This is a limited edition product from the Winter 2014 collection, and let me tell you, if you get your hands on this, you are a lucky son of a gun. This is an absolute favorite for me, but if you can’t get your hands on it, opt for the Highlight 101 from Laura Mercier.

Well, that concludes the favorites of 2014. Now it’s time to get a pretty dress on, pour some champagne, and ring in the new year with those you love.

Here’s to an amazing 2015, with lots of new launches, and minimal discontinued products!

Christmas Morning Makeup! (Actual Christmas Morning!)

So … First of all, Merry Christmas Eve. One more sleep until Santa comes!

I was actually searching for a post or a YouTube video on Christmas morning makeup, and all I found was mostly heavy makeup, with winged liner and red lips. Beautiful makeup, but I’m after more of a “make me look semi decent in case I get caught in a photograph” look. Serious basics! Anyone with kids, or animals that refuse to sleep past 5AM on Christmas morning know that a red lip and a winged liner are not in the cards. So let’s aim for something reasonable. Let’s aim to look alive, and have some sort of pyjamas on that don’t have stains or rips in them. I decided to do the post myself, and I managed to cut down to 6 products. You could get away with only 5 products if you’re having a good skin day!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/90b/62657476/files/2014/12/img_5030.png

Step one: I am showing Benefit Porefessional here, since it’s one of my favorites, but what you need to be on the lookout for while shopping in store, or shopping your collection, is something that will even out the texture of your skin. This will smooth lines and hide pores, and I find it helps reduce some of my redness as well. It makes your skin look instantly better, and can be applied in seconds with your fingertips. If you are lucky enough to be having a great skin day, skip this next step.

Step 2: This step is optional, or you could simply use a concealer where needed instead of an all over product. This is a super light foundation, that provides some coverage, but feels like nothing on the skin. It has a natural finish and doesn’t require to be set with a powder, so it’s perfect for non fussy days.

Step 3: This cream blush from Elizabeth Arden is perfect for this look. It’s a subtle flush of pink, can be applied in a flash with your fingers, and can double as a lip color if needed. It’s perfect to give you a little wash of color to take away from the zombie that lies beneath. This is an important step because adding some color to your cheeks will liven you up immediately.

Step 4: Brows. I don’t care how quick you need to get ready. You need brows. No brows are never an option. If you have a fire in your house, you secure your animals and children, grab your limited edition makeup products that you can’t replace, fill your brows in, and then get to safety. Recently I’ve been using the Lise Watier brow pencil in Universal Brun. It comes with a spooly on one end, so you don’t require an extra brush!

Step 5: Mascara! Even if you do the slightest coat of mascara, it will widen your eyes, and wake up your face. This is the Lancôme Doll Lashes, but whatever mascara you have will work just fine!

Step 6: This step isn’t really needed if you decided to double duty your cream blush, but if you want an actual lip color, opt for something that isn’t too heavy on the color, and something that has a very hydrating formula. No one wants dry flaky lips.

If you do these really quick simple steps, I guarantee you will look amazing in your Christmas photos. But not too made up! Another tip, is wear something flattering! I am always one to rock a flannel onesie, but Christmas Morning I will probably be rocking some black leggings and an oversized plaid shirt. It seems to be my uniform for holidays!

I hope absolutely everybody has an amazing holiday! Whatever you celebrate, I hope it’s filled with love, family, and limited edition makeup value sets.

Happy Holidays everybody, and thank you so much for reading!

Current Top 5 Red Lipsticks!

Tis the season to wear red lips … Fa la la la la la la la la …

I have been really loving red lips lately. I have gone through and picked 5 of my current favorites. Before I start anything, I have to give an honourable mention to my beloved Baby Lips in Cherry Me. It’s a red that has a lot of pink in it, and is a great starter red for someone who might be intimidated by a stronger color

IMG_4740.JPG

Starting from left to right…

Lancôme Rouge in Love 182 N : This is a beautiful red that makes your teeth look like pearly whites. These lipsticks have a long lasting finish, without being overly drying. No need for a lipliner with this one either, the color is very highly pigmented, and this works well by itself.

Lise Watier Rouge Fondant Supreme in Marilyn: This lipstick line from Lise Watier is rocking my world right now. Marilyn is a beautiful red, that feels like a fluffy pillow on your lips. A lipliner is a nice partner with this formula, as it is super hydrating and can have the tendency to travel outside of the lip line a little bit. But overall these are amazing, and if you are just getting into reds, this is a great choice.

Clarins Joli Rouge in Poppy Red: I know that this lipstick is getting discontinued in the near future, but if you want a beautiful easy to wear red lipstick, get your hands on this before it’s gone. This is the most sheer of the bunch, and it pulls a lot of pink color, so it’s not as alarming as a full on red. The texture of these lipsticks are great, and while the wear time isn’t overly impressive, this one wears off evenly, and doesn’t give you that dreaded ring around the mouth.

Covergirl Lip Perfection in Seduce: This lipstick is no joke. It’s a one swipe, no muss no fuss red. It definitely stains the lips, and lasts probably the longest of all five of these lipsticks. The formula is perfect, not too hydrating, but not too drying. And this deep shade of red screams seduction. It’s name is dead on! Everytime I put this lipstick on, I feel like a totally different person.

Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in Diva Red: This might be the deepest shade of red that I’ve chosen. And it is definitely the most hydrating. I cannot say enough about the texture of these lipsticks, they are so creamy and so hydrating, even the driest lips can wear them. I like to use a clear lipliner with this, because I don’t want to make the color any deeper, but again due to the hydrating formula, they can travel a little bit …

That’s it guys, those are my favorite five reds at the moment! Special shoutout to the Hourglass lipstick in Icon … That one is also one of my favorites!

What red lipstick is your favorite?

Review: Lise Watier Blush Fondant Supreme!

Sometimes, good things just happen. A deserving family wins the lottery, Sophia Vergara hooks up with Joe Manganiello, or in this case, a company makes a limited edition product that you LOVED, part of their regular line. Enter Lise Watier Blush Fondant Supreme.

First introduced in the Eden Tropical collection, these cream blushes left a huge impression on me. They are so light, they have the perfect texture that allows seamless blending, but still leave you with an even application. The lasting power is great, and the color range has something for everybody. These are an absolute home run. I prefer to apply them directly with my fingers, but I have used smaller stipple brushes, and also a regular blush brush, and was satisfied with the results from both.

IMG_4044.JPG

IMG_4045.JPG

From left to right: Corail, Peche, Natural, Baie, Terracotta, and Rose.

These blushes retail for $30.00 CAD and will more than likely be my go to blush this winter when my skin gets out of control dry. My personal favorite is Baie, but I love Peche and Rose. I will be reaching for those shades come Spring time!

Lise Watier has been absolutely killing it lately, I am super impressed with her products!

What are you favorite Lise Watier products?

Haul Post! Clarins, Lise Watier and Benefit!

As the holidays creep up on us, most of us will be increasing our shopping habits. Both for other people, and ourselves. I am no different! October through January are definitely the most expensive months for me. I picked some goodies up lately, and wanted to show you guys what I got!

Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base: I am really hoping that this product will replace my Benefit Stay don’t Stray. Don’t get me wrong, I love that product, but there is just so much wasted product with the doe foot applicator. I really prefer squeeze tubes. The texture of this seemed to be quite similar, and I am excited to try it!

Lise Watier Smokey Kohl Velours Eyeliner (Noir Velours) : Lise Watier knows eyeliner. I put these liners up with other brands that are much more expensive. (And any reason to support a Canadian company works for me!) this liner is crazy black, and I’m sure I will get a lot of use out of it this season. (Does anybody else wear a lot more eyeliner in the winter?)

Lise Watier Rouge Fondant Supreme in Sandra: Okay, I LOVE these lipsticks. I already own Jennifer and Liz, and Sandra is the new chick on the block! These lipsticks are so creamy, so comfortable, and have amazing pigment. There are also five more of these launching soon (blog post coming on that!) and I couldn’t be more excited … I wish they would make a Sara shade …

Lise Watier Mineral Compact Powder in Neutre: This was recommended to me by a friend, as she knew I was on the hunt for a new powder foundation. I am dying to try the Laura Mercier one, but for some reason I cat get myself to buy it! So, we will see how this goes. I have used this a few times, and so fat I am happy. It does give me a bit of that tight face feeling, which I often get on my super dry skin, when I use powders. The cool thing with this powder is it comes with a 50 pack of blotting papers that is under the compact. Not that I need oil blotting papers, but I still appreciate the extra product!

Clarins True Radiance Foundation in 109 Wheat: Clarins does foundations really well. I loved Everlasting, Skin Illusion, and their BB cream. So when they launched this foundation that promises moisture, and a dewy finish, I knew I had to try it. I wish I would have picked the 107 shade, as I haven’t self tanned in forever, and this might be a little dark for me right now. Either way, this will be put to good use! Stay tuned for a review on that!

IMG_4241.JPG

IMG_4242.JPG

Benefit Sweet Tintations Set: This is one of many adorable Benefit sets that released for the holidays. And really the only one that made sense for me. I probably own more Benefit than any other line, so the kits of full sized products, and the blush palette didn’t really appeal to me, as I already have most of it. This kit caught my eye however, because I have finished a Lolli Balm already. Yup, you heard that right. I finished a lip product. This is rare for me. I love LolliBalm, and I can’t wait to try Benebalm. Plus, you get the two matching mini tints. (Which I have full size of, so these will probably go into a future giveaway!) This kit was $30.00 CAD which is a steal, considering that one balm is usually $22.00!

This is just the start of my holiday shopping!

What have you guys bought lately?

Lise Watier Fall Collection 2014!

Oh how I am a little late to the party for this one …

This Lise Watier collection launched for Fall 2014, and I have to say, there are some serious gems in this collection. The packaging is beautiful, but I wish they would have left it just as rose gold packaging and passed on the old school Elizabeth Arden-esque leopard print. But the products themselves are really impressive … Keep reading to see my thoughts!

IMG_3743.JPG

Quatuor Feline Eyeshadow Quartet: These shadows are absolutely beautiful. I can wear them for a full day without any creasing, and I love the way the look when you apply them with your fingers. They are perfect colors for any skin tone or eye color, and they swatch beautifully.

24 HR Glam Eyeshadow Sticks: These were another hit for me. I did a complete eye look with these, including using one as a liner, and I had no issues with creasing or smudging. Also, I found the colors look very true to what they are on the eye. Don’t you hate it when you are using darker colors and when blended together they all look like the same color?

Feline Velvet Lip Laquers: I have mixed feelings about these. They come in two shades, Nude and Rouge. That’s the problem I have! They are so gorgeous, full color, long lasting lip products, and neither of the colors really worked for me. That being said, if they were to launch these as a permanent product with a larger color range, I would be all over them. If one of these two shades works for you, I highly recommend you pick it up!!

Feline Liquid Eyeliner: I’m sure we all know and love the Lise Watier Feline Liquid Eyeliner. Well, they have launched it in brown, and I am happy with it. For me personally, liquid liner is what I use when I want a more dramatic cat eye, and I can’t see myself ever wanting that to be brown, but again that’s a personal preference. Great product again, and a wonderful end to a really solid collection.

I love the Lise Watier collections, they might be my most looked forward to … What about you guys?

Four Scary Makeup Products you have to try!

Living the beauty product junkie lifestyle is super fun, but can also be as scary as Amanda Bynes after a bender. There are a lot of products that when they were introduced to me I was shocked that anyone would think there was a place in the beauty world for them. Here are some scary products that are definitely worth facing those fears.

Green Concealer: People who struggle with covering their redness really need to give this a shot. Used in the correct way, this really can be a miracle step. The trick is to use this only where you need it, and in very thin layers. If you use too much, you will inevitably end up looking like the hulk. My favorite product to use for this is the green shade in the Lise Watier Portfolio Wheel. If this step still seems too daunting to attempt, try out a green face primer that will neutralize on the skin, before applying your foundation. Or, there are many creams on the market that have the green tint built right in.

Red Blush (And I mean red!) I saw this on a YouTube video and the makeup artist put in on under foundation and it created a really natural flush. I’ve somewhat adapted that to being over my liquid foundation but under my powder. It actually looks a lot more natural than most of my pink or coral blushes.

Face Razors: Say what? Not like Fusion Proglide but the type that you get at Sally’s. I was terrified of developing a World Series worthy beard, the hair growing in darker, stubble etc. The truth is these scary little razors are amazing. They are quick and easy to use, and remove that blonde peach fuzz hair that women can get on their faces. Makeup goes on so much more smoothly, and neither one of us experienced any of the feared backlash. Simply keep the razor facing down, and gently glide it over the area you wish to de-fuzz.

Setting Sprays: I use these under my makeup, over my makeup, midday, around the time I should be removing my makeup….. I love setting sprays. When applied under my makeup it seems to improve the adherence of my foundation. When applied at the end of the routine it helps remove the appearance of the powder as well as adding to the longevity of the makeup. They are scary and counter intuitive to finish a full face of makeup and then drench your face in liquid but it really is worth it, just have something close to fan yourself with when you’re done.

Do any of you use any of these “scary” beauty products?

Canada Day Post! Proud to be Canadian!

Sabah and I wanted to focus on some Canadian brands today, in honor of Canada’s birthday. (She looks great for 147 EH?) Side note… All Canadians don’t actually say Eh? after everything we say. I will admit, it slips from time to time, but there are things that are way more Canadian than that. Like Kitchen Parties. Maybe that’s an East Coast thing only.

Here is a rundown of our favorite Canadian Brands and some awesome products from them. We sincerely hope these gems will make up for Justin Bieber, and make you all love Canadians again.

Lise Watier:
20140623-084648-31608226.jpg

Lise Watier is a Montreal based company, and they make some amazing products. Some of my favorites are Sun Smart, the Haute Couture lip gloss line, Feline HD eyeliner, and the Portfolio wheel. I believe this line is available for online shopping now, so if you want to get introduced to the line, these are definitely the things to start with.

Annabelle:
20140623-084647-31607230.jpg

One of our favorite Canadian drugstore brands, Annabelle (Montreal Based) is my go to for eyeliners and lipliners. They have an awesome color selection, and the product itself is smooth, and lasts on my skin. This is always my go to when I want to try a fun new color and I am not sure if I am ready to commit to an expensive purchase. Their lipliners are amazing shades, and you can’t beat the price.

Marcelle:
20140623-084646-31606234.jpg

Oh Marcelle. This line is also based out of Montreal (Seriously, that place is like cosmetic heaven!) If you have known me for more than 5 minutes, you have probably heard me talk about the Marcelle BB cream. It is honestly better than any high end brand BB cream I have used. It gives amazing coverage, feels great, and works for all skin types. I could go on and on … Also, their eye makeup remover (A total dupe for Lancôme Bi-Facil) boasts the #1 selling eye makeup remover in Canada sticker, and works like a charm. My third pick is the translucent powder. This stuff is amazing to set your makeup with. It is in a huge jar, lasts forever, and doesn’t look cakey on the skin. My tip with that, is just poke a needle through some of the holes, instead of peeling back the whole label and getting powder everywhere!

Bite Beauty:
20140624-123917-45557305.jpg

This is a good one. Bite Beauty is a Toronto based makeup company, who specialize in lip products that are edible. (Not that they recommend you eat them right from the tube) but after realizing how much lipstick women eat in their lifetime, the company developed a formula that is much healthier than your average lipstick. I have yet to try the coveted Agave lip mask, but I can tell you, the lipsticks are some of the absolute best I have tried.

Cake:
20140624-123919-45559079.jpg

I don’t think I have smelled anything from this line that I wasn’t immediately obsessed with. This line started in the creator’s (Heather’s) kitchen, and has blown up since. 90% to 95% of all their products are natural, and a few awesome sellers are the hand cream, the dry shampoo, and the oil. I also always gravitate towards their body scrub … Just another Canadian gem.

Do you guys have any favorite Canadian products!?

Happy Birthday Canada!

Lise Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme

There’s nothing I love more, especially in the Summer, than an eyeshadow that I can apply with my finger, super quickly, and dash out the door. Enter Lise Watier Ombre Soufflé Supremes. (GASP, that was a mouthful!)

Now I may ruffle some feathers here, but those who know me, know that’s what I do best. I hate the Maybelline Color Tattoos. There, I said it. I have tried the original line, the metal line, the leather line, they just don’t work for me at all. Bad to the Bronze was for sure near the top of the list for beauty disappointments. I still have some, and even though I store them properly and always make sure to close the lid tight, they are shrunken up and dry.

When Lise Watier launched these, they immediately reminded my of the Chanel Illusion D`òmbre shadows. I had one of those, and it was nice, but of course, it was pricey. Some of my favorite shades of these are: Magie Blanche, Ciel De Nuit, Sunrise Peach, and Vert Enchante. These swatch beautifully, and they will captivate you when they hit the light. They feel like a little pot of cloud, and apply so smoothly. Here are the claims, taken from the website.

“Iridescent / Air-whipped texture Anti-aging / Antioxidant properties / Long-lasting. An exceptionally light creamy mousse texture, combined with the antioxidant properties of our exclusive Labrador Tea extract. Easily applied with the fingertips, its long-lasting formula gives the eyelids an iridescent look.“

I agree with everything they claim about this shadow. And that never happens. These are long lasting, they don`t crease, and they apply so easily with the fingertips. They have so many other colors, but I wanted to highlight my top 4, that I reach for often.

20140623-084643-31603974.jpg
20140623-084643-31603130.jpg

I wish the photo could do them justice. The shine that these give off is just incredible. If you have not tried these shadows, or you`re like me, and suffered disappointment with the Color Tattoos, give these a try. Next time you are at a Lise Watier counter, at least try the texture of these. They are amazing, and give the eye the best iridescent look ever!
