Girl Met Blush

Change is coming .. (Actually, it`s here!)

Alright Everybody. Change has happened. Those who know me well, know that I deal with change very quietly, with a lot of deep breaths. I have decided to stop using WordPress as my blogging platform. This choice was difficult, because I will admit, it is one of the easiest blogging platforms I have ever used. However, I pay for, and maintain a website for my freelance work, and doing both is just getting to be too much. Girl Met Blush started as a passion project, and it still is. But, I feel like having everything in one place will be easier to handle, and I also feel like looks more professional than having the added tail on the end of it.

So what does this mean for us? To be honest, not much. You will have to type in a different link to find me, and hopefully will follow me at the new URL. (I think you can follow the new blog … I am new to the settings!) This is more of a warning that I have not dropped off the face of the earth, and also a huge thank you to all of my followers. Bear with me while I get through the transition phase of this, as my new website is much more intricate to work with, and I am still getting used to it.

While my head has been clouded with all of the new information, I have been drawing blanks lately for post ideas. I also wanted to see if you guys could let me know what you want to hear about in the near future. I purchased the new Smashbox Contour Trio Set, and I am still playing with those before I bring you a full review.

Stop by the new blog location, and leave me a comment if you want! Any feedback on the way the site looks would be greatly appreciated … Keep in mind I am not a technology person (Irony!) and I do everything on the website myself!

That’s my update guys! I’ll see you at the new location!

Talk Soon!

Review: CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation!

Recently, I had a very bad reaction to a new cleansing balm that I tried. It was a doozy, and it made me really question what I am going to do with my skin. I went to my beauty stash, pulled almost all of the skincare that I had, and gave it all to Sabah. Creams, serums, exfoliants … Everything. I stopped using almost every product I had, and went back to Cetaphil cleanser and CeraVe moisturizer. That along with blasts and blasts of Avene Thermal Water, and my skin is finally getting back to normal. The reason I am telling you guys this, is because the way I have my unopened products stored is in boxes. Boxes of skincare, boxes of liners, mascaras, blushes, powders, foundations etc. everything has it’s own box. Now that my skincare boxes are almost empty, I realized that I had so many foundations, I could fill two boxes. I needed to start trying new things. This brought me to open the new CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation.

This oil free foundation has been getting really good reviews online, but mostly from people that have oily skin. I worried that this foundation would dry my skin out, but I just had to try it. I love squeeze tubes, the price is right, and it promised me good coverage. I picked the shade 120, which is embarrassingly a little too dark for me right now. I’ve been using this for awhile now, and these are my thoughts!

The texture of this foundation is nice. It’s not too fluid, and not too thick. After applying with a brush, fingers, and a beauty blender, I have decided that I like the application with the beauty blender the best. This foundation doesn’t catch on my dry patches, but I do like to wear a radiance primer underneath, as my skin looks a little dull without it. Lasting power seems to be okay, I am battling a very bad cold right now, so I am always red around the nose at the end of the day. Not the foundations fault, and everywhere else held up super well. I’ve had no issues with clogged pores or breakouts, and this foundation does not oxidize on me throughout the day. My obsession with glowy skin causes me to add a radiance primer, and douse myself in MAC Fix Plus after application. I got this foundation on sale for $6.99CAD, and for the price I would totally recommend it. If you are more of a combo/oily skin, I think you would really like this. Super dry skins, I would stick to my L’oreal True Match Lumi recommendation.

Have you guys tried this yet? I’ve heard only positive things about it, but mostly negative things about the concealer …. Weird hey?

My Ombré Journey!

I’m excited to sit down and blog about my hair, because I know most of my girlfriends are getting really tired of talking about it. I have a hair problem. I get bored constantly. Sites like Instagram and Pinterest really don’t help my wandering eye when it comes to hair color. I’ll see a snapshot of something I like, and I need to get it done by the next day. Before the fall, I used the Redken Chromatics line in my hair, went all over dark, and got rid of my ombré. I regretted it the next day. Then I decided to cut my bangs. I regretted that too. When I started thinking about what I wanted my hair to look like, I was horrified to realize that I wanted my hair to look just like it did before I colored it, and cut my bangs. I have played around with touching up my own ombré, but when it comes to going from dark to light and using a lot of lightener on my hair, that’s when I call my stylist.

I get my hair done by the lovely Lydia at The Parlour in Bedford. She was the first stylist to ever give me the ombré look, and I completely fell in love. Ombré can go really wrong really quickly, and she has it down to an art. She will study and really think about what will give me the messy, gradient look that I am after, and I have never left with that dreaded demarcation line of bleach halfway down my nape. I always have people complimenting my hair (funny enough – the compliments stopped when I got rid of my ombré…) I have come to accept that I am extremely boring with my hair. It’s straight, or it’s wavy. This means that I need dimension to my hair. When it was all dark, it looked so blah. I have a lot of very fine hair, which loves to stick to my scalp and look super flat. When I have different dimensions in my hair, I feel like it makes me look more put together. When I use my curling wand, I try to push my curls for as long as I can. I hate blow drying my hair, so I try to wash my hair once or twice a week. (Yay for dry shampoo!)

So, I got my first round of ombré done in November. It wasn’t as light as I wanted it to be, but I didn’t expect to go from super dark to a beige-y blonde beach babe in one visit. They use a new product called Olaplex in my color now, which is supposed to be amazing for preventing damage while using lightener. I went back this past Monday for round two, and it is really starting to come together.

As you can see, it lightened up quite a bit. The pieces that were already lightened from last time went to that beige based blonde that I am after, and the darker parts on the top layer of my hair still have a warmer tone to them. By my third visit the process will be complete! My hair feels great now, I definitely needed a trim. I also had to get some very fine foils near the top of my head to break up my regrowth. My natural hair is lighter than the dark color I used in the early fall. That left me with a beautiful skunk effect. Luckily Lydia took care of that!

If you live near the Halifax area and are interested in a change, I highly recommend Lydia ESPECIALLY if you are considering the ombré look. I have put some snapshots of The Parlour below. It feels like you are walking into a celebrity closet. It’s the most feminine place I know of!

Does anyone have any quick hair styling tips? I’m talking like 5-10 mins … I need so much help with my hair.

Dark circles are a thing of the past thanks to Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base!

Dark Circles. Dark circles. Dark Circles. Working in cosmetics, I talk about dark circles probably 45 times a day. This is something that a lot of women struggle with, and I have been noticing some darkness under my own eyes lately. Waking up early to shovel and defrost the ice cube that I call Ruby (my car), has started to cause issues underneath of my eyes.

Luckily, I have a product that truly helps me out. Clarins Radiance Boosting Complexion Base is actually meant to be used as a primer, mixed in with foundation, or wore alone to enhance the complexion, but this little gem packs a serious punch when layered underneath of your undereye concealer.

I have this in the color Champagne, which has a pretty strong orange tone to it. It attacks the blue in my undereye area like no other. I will apply this product first, and then layer on top with whatever concealer I have on the go. Two of my favorites to use have been the Smashbox BB undereye concealer, and the Clarins Instant Concealer.

This will be your plan of attack when using this product. Apply your face products (Moisturizer, Primer, Foundation etc.) try not to apply your foundation directly up to the eyes, as it will just create another layer of product, and nobody wants cakey undereyes. After your foundation is blended, apply a small amount of the Clarins Complexion Base with your clean fingers. Tap the product under the eyes, and avoid rubbing the product in. If you try to rub in a concealer, you will be working against yourself, and you will simply remove the product from the skin. If you work in very light layers, you can repeat this process twice. After the complexion base is applied, you can follow with an appropriate undereye concealer. Make sure that you are using a skin tone colored concealer, as the Clarins will be working as a corrector only. Tap the concealer onto the undereyes, and ensure everything is well blended. When you are satisfied with the coverage, set your undereye area with a very finely milled setting powder. This will make sure you avoid any creasing or smudging.

There are three shades of the Complexion Base. Rose, Champagne, and Peach. Rose has a very pink undertone, so wouldn’t do much for this purpose, however the Champagne and the Peach both have very orange undertones. Light to Medium skin tones would love the Champagne, and Medium to Deep skin tones would be better off to use the Peach Shade!

What are your favorite tricks for hiding your dark circles? I once had a pharmacist tell me to get more sleep and eat a steak because my dark circles were probably an Iron deficiency.

Empties: What you need to know about my trash!

Empties. A constant stream of empty products leaving my vanity. A lot of different emotions come with empties. Happiness, relief, pride, fear, anger, disgust … (We’ve all found that overly expired product in the back of our collection every now and again!)

I’m here to give you all the important details on everything that I have used up lately. Let’s get started!

Glam Glow Thirsty Mud: I loved this product. I am sad that it is completely gone, because it is pricey. I loved the smell of it, and I frequently used this as a night cream. I have some other masks I have to try out, and I honestly don’t think I will repurchase this again, even though I loved it. It is just expensive! I have seen that they make the smaller size of it now, so I will definitely buy one of those sometime soon!

Stila Stay all Day Primer Balm: This product was … Underwhelming. I feel like the texture was too creamy for what it was. Honestly, the reason I actually finished this was because there was so much wasted product. Everytime you dipped your sponge in to get some product, you were left with a massive gob on the sponge that ended up being thrown in the trash. The product worked well enough, but the Cover Girl version was so similar there is no way I would tell someone to buy this. Apparently Mally has a wonderful product like this that I would love to try.

Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser: BETTER than any other brush cleanser I have ever used. Period. For sponges, for brushes, whatever you have, this is the best stuff to clean them with. I have gone through several of these, and am currently having a small heart attack because I have misplaced my brand new one. I will repurchase this over and over!

Korres 24 Hour Wild Rose Moisturizing and Brightening Cream: Another underwhelming product. The jar is gone, it was fine. I won’t repurchase. I saw no difference in my skin while I was using this, and my dry flakes were there every morning when I woke up. Pass!

Avene Trixera Emollient Cream: I only got about halfway through this before it expired. I didn’t even try to push the expiry, because this cream did nothing for me. I never expect to be changed because of a body lotion, but this one was just boring. I wasn’t excited to use it, and I was thankful when it expired.

Clarins Wonder Length Mascara: Clarins has discontinued this mascara, and I think I know why. Although I love the very small wand (very Maybelline Lash Discovery-esque) the formula did nothing for me. It pretty much made my natural lashes darker, and flaked throughout the day. Discontinued and I have no hard feelings about it.

Lise Watier Feline HD Eyeliner: By far, my favorite liquid eyeliner that I have ever tried. The longer style felt tip makes application an absolute breeze, this is a super black liner, and it never moves around on me. I cannot complain, and I am happy to say that LW has finally launched a brown version!

Caviar CC Cream 10 in 1: This hair product was okay, but I was really looking forward to finishing it so I could get back to my Kerestase. My hair has been so tangly lately, that I am really looking for a product that will help. (Suggestions below please!) For the price of the full size, I won’t be repurchasing this!

Nivea a hint of Olive Oil and Lemon: By far my favorite lip balm from Nivea. This is the only one that ever seemed to heal my lips. I dug into this with a qtip and it is truly empty. This is not available in Halifax, so next time I travel to the States, I will bring back multiple tubes of this!

Marc Anthony Repairing Macadamia Oil Treatment: I am so glad this was a small packet and not a full size product. This did absolutely nothing for me. My hair was still so rough feeling and tangled after using it. I have used cheap conditioners that have made my hair feel better than this. Definite pass!

Avene Thermal Spring Water: I love this product. This brand in particular is my favorite. I find others leave a mineral like cast on my skin – and I hate it! The Avene water feels so refreshing and crisp, and leaves my skin feeling hydrated. I repurchase this over and over!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: I actually really liked this! I am currently going through moisturizers like crazy. I use them for a week or so, and if they burn my skin, or they give me some sort of a reaction, I move on. I got through this whole tube with no issue. My face was so hydrated and never felt like it was burning or irritated. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the smell, but it wasn’t offensive enough to make me not want to use it again. If I have to get rid of another moisturizer, I very well might break down and buy another one of these!

Another round of empties gone. It feels so good to clear this stuff out of here! I have been working on a new vanity area for my products, so I will keep you guys updated on Instagram about that!

Thanks so much for reading!

January Favorites!

Can anyone even believe the first month of 2015 is over yet? I have yet to really think of any resolutions, but I did just get a FitBit, so maybe I will jump on the fitness train. (Ok- I couldn’t even get through typing that without laughing!) I loathe exercise. I also love food. Food and I have a relationship that is so strong, I can’t see us ever parting ways. We always agree with eachother, and we love in harmony.

Luckily for me, my beauty favorites of the month don’t have nearly as many calories as some of my favorite foods – so let’s jump into my most reached for products for this month!

YSL Black Opium: This fragrance has had my heart all month. I loved it as soon as I smelled it, and it’s a rare fragrance that Almira, Sabah and I all like. It is a warmer, deeper scent, but isn’t overly musky or offensive. You have to smell this next time you’re out!

Number 7 Microdermabrasion: I just reviewed this product a few days ago on the blog. I haven’t reached for it for awhile, and boy am I glad it’s back in my life. This product gives you such an amazing exfoliation. Smooth skin and less irritation than a lot of other scrubs that I have used! I highly recommend this.

Sonia Kashuk Eyes on Neutral Palette: I have used this every single day since I got it. No joke. And I am falling more and more in love. These shadows blend so beautifully, and they are all matte. I will be buying a back up of this, hopefully if I can find one at Target before they shut down.

Cover Girl Ready Set Gorgeous! Foundation: I was surprised with this foundation. I have a full review coming this week, so stay tuned for that. The gist of it is, it doesn’t settle on my dry patches, and the coverage is really nice. I’m in the shade 120, which works for me, but I could have actually gone a shade lighter. (I’m translucent not very tanned in the winter.

Benefit Puff Off!: This product really smooths out my undereye area. The adorable packaging is not only eye catching, but practical. Keep this sucker in the fridge, and use it in the morning! It can be layered underneath another eye cream, and will iron out those undereye bags for you before (or after) you apply your makeup!

Garnier Damage Eraser Hair Mask: This was recommended by Tiffany D on YouTube, and I am really happy with it. It is so nourishing, but rinses clean and doesn’t leave my fine hair looking or feeling heavy. I’ve actually used this as my regular conditioner for awhile and I love it. I purchased the shampoo from the same line, but haven’t tried it out yet. Here’s hoping I love it!

Aveeno Ezcema Care Hand Cream: This has been a favorite for a few months! I finished a tube completely, and promptly repurchased. It’s the only hand cream that doesn’t irritate me when my Ezcema is flaring up on my hands. It makes me think that Oatmeal must be a truly magical ingredient.

What were your favorites this month!?

Drugstore Haul!

Rise and Shine everybody! I wanted to show you all some goodies I picked up from the drugstore! I found two lipsticks I am really excited about!

Stila Mile High Lashes Mascara: Ok, so technically this isn’t a “drugstore” purchase, but regardless, my drugstore carries a lot of high end brands. I have tried this mascara before, and I absolutely loved it so I am excited to have another tube in my life. If you want volume and length, with no smudging or flaking, give this a try!

Bourjois So Laquer Glossy! Nail Polish: I like the brush of this nail polish, it looks nice and wide. Similar to the Complete Salon Manicure by Sally Hansen. I love the peachy pink color and I can’t wait to wear this a little closer to Spring.

Cover Girl Ready Set Gorgeous! Foundation: I have heard nothing but amazing things about this foundation. A lot of oily skin girls love it, so I am interested to see what I think of it on my dry skin. I have used this once, and I am happy with the color, the coverage, and the finish. And, my skin didn’t feel too dry underneath of it. Alas, I will continue to test it out, and review it for you guys soon!

Physicians Formula Super BB All in 1 Beauty Balm for Cheeks and Lips!: This was just too cute to pass up. It looks similar to an EOS balm, and I am hoping it delivers on it’s promise to be a sheer hint of color for cheeks and lips. This might turn out to be a perfect purse product. Time will tell!

Clinique Take the Day Off: This eye make up remover is great. This bottle is actually for my sister, but I have used this product before and loved it, so wanted to give it a little love. Most days, my trusty Bioderma will do the trick, but for days that I have a lot of eye makeup on, or a deeper colored lipstick, this always gets the job done!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Let’s get Naked!: I absolutely love this lipstick. Color, formula, even packaging. I used to be a huge fan of the old Moisture Renew lipsticks, so I was happy to see that these were just as good! This lipstick and the next one will both be swatched on the blog tomorrow!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Cognito: Another awesome shade. Not as hydrating as the Rimmel, but I have already used this a lot as a highlighting shade on my lips. It’s also great over a lip liner!

My oh my it feels wonderful to purchase cosmetics again. I am definitely going to go back for some more of those Rimmel lipsticks ….

What drugstore products have you bought lately?

Empties Post! New Year, New Empties!

What better to do on a Monday morning than clean out your bucket of empties? I had a few makeup products in here which was exciting, as of many of you with ridiculous makeup collections know, it can be hard to get to the bottom of makeup products!
I did a separate blog for my empty mascaras. Truth be told, a few of them were definitely not empty, they were just so bad that they had to be retired early. Make sure you check out that blog post if you are interested in mascaras!

Let’s jump into the empties! (Disclaimer: I went a little crop crazy with the first picture, so excuse that!)

Biotherm Oil Therapy Baume Corps: I love this body lotion. This is probably my third or fourth bottle. If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know that I can never wear this again, because the smell of it sends Sabah into an absolute emotional downward spiral. We haven’t quite figured out why yet, but I would be a pretty bad friend if I wore it anyway! I would recommend this lotion though, it’s great for dry legs!

L’oreal Elnett Hairspray (Unfragranced): Show of hands, who is tired of hearing me rave about Elnett!? Just for any new readers, this is what you need to know. This hairspray is amazing, you can use as much as you want, and can easily brush it through. Your hair never gets crunchy, and it holds my style really well. Always ALWAYS get the unfragranced version, because the other ones smell like the your grandmothers basement!

Benefit Foamingly Clean Facial Cleanser: I love this product. It smells great, plays well with my Clarisonic, and never makes my skin feel dried out. Benefit really did well with their cleanser and also their exfoliant. And packaging inspired by sea glass? Sign me up. Love this!

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Mineral Balm: I have a seperate review for this product here. This product worked really well for me, and has been the only thing that really has kept my upper lip area from flaking. I haven’t repurchased, because I am trying out some new products, but this will be something I will use again. It’s a perfect barrier cream!

ROC Anti Fatigue Nourishing Cream: This was a cream I had thrown in my travel bag and it didn’t break me out, but it also didn’t wow me. I actually finished the tube moisturizing my legs after my boyfriend came home from a work trip a day early to surprise me, and a very quick, very aggressive leg shaving had to happen in a flash. Seriously, why do men think early surprises are a good idea? After two weeks, I had neglected shaving my legs, had a full face mask on, and was wearing a fleece onesie. I was horrified, but I pulled it together. Either way, even though this moisturizer was fine, I wouldn’t repurchase it.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation: I can’t say enough good things about this foundation. And it’s the first foundation I have actually finished in a long time. I got this in September, and have used it almost exclusively since then. It leaves a very natural finish, feels super light on the skin, and didn’t break me out at all. This isn’t available in Canada, so I won’t be repurchasing, but my next trip to the States, I will be buying this again!

No Dark Shadows: This concealer worked really well for me. It didn’t crease when set with a powder, and it was nice to use for highlighting as well. I went through it super fast, and when I used it one morning and I heard that click that tells you the product is gone, I was shocked. I am a bit of a concealer junkie, so I have already moved on to other things, but if you are looking for a new brightening concealer, give this one a try. It’s inexpensive, but harder to find. I got mine at Shoppers. The only thing I would change is the packaging. I’m not a fan of the twist up brush packaging.

Cover Girl Smoochies in Text Me 220: This product surprised me, I really liked it. The color was great, and it wore really comfortably on the lips. None of the other colors in the range really interest me, but if they ever launched some new shades, I would repurchase for sure!

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Eyebrow Pencil in Brownette: This is the best brow pencil I have ever used in my life. And through the cosmetic grapevine, I have heard so many people switching from their HG Anastasia Brow Wiz to this pencil. It’s a little less expensive, and in my opinion, much nicer. Everything from the product, to the packaging, to the spooly brush. I’ve never lost a cap on either side of the product, (which always happens to me with brow pencils for some reason) and I have actually kept this empty product, just to use the spooly that’s on it. It blends your brows out perfectly, without removing too much product. I have already repurchased another one, which I am so glad for, because I’ve been trying lots of other brow pencils, and they just aren’t the same!

Cliniderm Gentle Cleanser: This was the absolute most boring product I have ever used. More boring than Philosophy Purity. But that being said, I still liked it. It did the job, didn’t have any fragrance, didn’t irritate my eyes, or sting my skin. If you have sensitive skin and want a very basic cleanser, I would definitely try this out!

Caress Passionate Spell Body Wash: I loved this product! It was such a warm spicy scent, unlike any body wash I have ever used. Of course I can’t buy this where I live, so I’ll have to do without until I can find it. It was the perfect winter body wash… I wish they made a more creamy version for dry skin. It was like having a bath or shower right next to a crackling fire.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Hair Mask: This changed my hair. Seriously, over all higher end hair masks I have ever used, this made my hair smoother and softer. Even my boyfriend would mention how soft my hair was after using this. I got two of these for $6.00 USD and I am so sad that mine is gone. I’ve had people tell me I can find this in Canada at London Drugs, so I will have to get my sisters in Calgary on the hunt. Next time you hit the drugstore and see this, pick it up and try it!

Once again left with an empty empties bin. I can’t wait to get into some new products and start filling it up again!

Have an awesome Monday beauties!

Fancy vs Frugal Friday: Benefit Gimme Brow vs Maybelline Brow Drama!

This is a different kind of Fancy vs Frugal that I wasn’t going to do, but I’ve gotten so many requests from people, and so many people asking me about these two products and if they’re comparable, that I decided to just do it, more as a cautionary tale.

Benefit Gimme Brow and Maybelline Brow Drama are two very different products. I wouldn’t even put the two in the same category. Let me give you the pros and cons of both, and hopefully give you all some clarity between these two.

Gimme brow is a tinted brow fibre gel, meaning if you look close, you can actually see tiny fibres that will stick to brow hair, and even the skin as well. This makes it a great product for people who have extremely sparse brows. It comes with a micro mini mascara like wand, that makes it super easy to brush through your brows, or simply place the wand and deposit product where you wish your brows would be. It will make the brow area look more full, provide some color, and help to hold the brows in place.

Maybelline Brow Drama is a tinted brow gel. No fibres, no volumizing properties, and no micro wand. For some reason, Maybelline opted for a thicker wand, with a massive ball on the end of it. Which makes it near impossible to get a precise application, especially near the tail of the brow.

The Maybelline product can be useful if you have already filled your brows, and you simply want a gel to place on top for some hold. And if you have a thicker brow, the big ball on the end might not be such a problem. But for most people, application will prove to be frustrating.

So, Fancy definitely wins for this week, but like I said, these products really shouldn’t even be compared. I just started using a new product that is very similar to Gimme Brow however, so I will use it for awhile longer, and update you guys! I also wish that Benefit would launch an auburn shade for the Gimme Brow, as I have a lot of redhead beauties complaining about it!

Have you guys tried either of these? Tell me your thoughts!

5 Mascara Empties with Reviews!

Mascara is something that I go through really quickly. Normally I stick with my HG Hypnose by Lancôme, but being a beauty blogger, I am constantly being asked my opinion on different mascaras.

So, going through my empties, I realized that I had 5 mascaras to throw, and thought I would separate these into their own post.

Let’s get into the reviews!

Essence Get Big Lashes: So you know that feeling when you see a $3.99 mascara, and you think … What if this could be my HG? What if it wasn’t a dry, flaky mascara that I would regret purchasing? This my friends, is sadly the negative part of trying new things. I am not too upset over it since it was so inexpensive, but this mascara did nothing for me. Large brush, dry formula, and flake city. If you want to try an Essence mascara, I’d recommend the Extreme Crazy Volume in the pink tube.

Lancôme Grandiose: I have a full review on this mascara, and I have to say, I love it. The packaging is just divine, and the wand really does make application super easy. I thought it we gimmicky at first, but this mascara fans out my lashes, gives me length and volume, and doesn’t flake on me. Totally worth the splurge for a tube of this.

Rimmel ScandelEyes Rockin’ Curves: I don’t get this mascara. I don’t like the formula, it flakes all over my face through the day, and I just don’t understand the wand. I appreciate when companies come out with new wands, but the shape of this one doesn’t make sense to me. It doesn’t make it easy to get close to your eye, let alone the smaller lashes in the corners. If the formula was great, I would give it some credit, but this one just didn’t work for me.

L’oreal Telescopic: I have mixed feelings for this mascara. I know it’s a lengthening mascara, and it does give me length, I just wanted more from it. How I ended up using this was layered underneath a more volumizing mascara to get my desired look. It flaked on me a little bit, but nothing that was too bad. If you are blessed with thick full lashes, and just want something to comb them through and add length, if give this a try. If you’re like me and prefer drag queen lashes even on a Tuesday morning, I would skip this one!

Maybelline Lash Discovery: Oh how sad I am that this is gone. This isn’t available where I live, so I don’t know when the next time I’ll be able to get my hands on one is. I originally got this for my bottom lashes (and it worked amazing for that!) but I progressed to using it on my top and bottom lashes until the tube was gone. The teeny tiny brush was just so easy to work with, and it never ever clumped on me. Zero flakes by the end of the day. I love this product and will be stocking up the next time I see it!

What mascaras have you been using lately? Has anyone tried the new Cover Girl Bloom mascara?
